Quick question…
Does anybody use the Calendar feature on blogs (your own, the ones you visit, whatever)? I know there’s been a trend to remove them (which means, yes, I’m thinking of tossing mine too), but just wondering if anybody really does use them.

I don’t really use them much. If you want people to dive into your archives, what I think is more interesting than a calendar of postings is to see which postings are most popular (by number of comments). So you’d have a small sidebar list of the last 5-6 most commented posts. I think that would entice people to look back in your archive, rather than just say, “hmm, I wonder what he wrote on January 23?” Just my 2 cents though.

Yeah, I’m of the same opinion Sean. I’ve found that I just look at the calendar for a more visual impression of how often the person had been posting, but is that enough over just looking at the main content? Not so much…

if it helps, i didn’t notice that there was a calendar feature here —
that is, until you made this post.

I rarely use the catalog to go to a particular posting…unless I have something I’m looking for, that’s resisting Google, and I have a vague recollection of _when_ I saw it.
But mostly, it’s just an indicator of how often the author is posting…which is one of the reasons it’s turned off on my own weblog!

Thanks guys - OK, the calendar is gone once I roll the changes Michael so generously helped me with. (Thanks again Michael!)
